Mangaluru, Feb 05, 2019: Mid-day meal workers staged a protest in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Monday urging the government to increase their monthly salary. They also opposed the Union government for not increasing their salary in the interim Budget presented on February 1.
Addressing a gathering, Vasanth Achari, vice-president, Dakshina Kannada unit of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), said that the workers are drawing Rs. 2,700 per month. Inflation has hit them hard. The protest was held under the auspices of Karnataka Rajya Akshara Dasoha Noukarara Sangha (KRADNS) affiliated to CITU.
