Mangalureans to cycle in ’RxLife’ rally on Dec 11

Dec 07, 2016: It is expected that about  3,000 bikers are to take part in the 10th annual ’RxLife Hercules Cycle Rally’ that will start at Lady Hill Circle here at 6.30 am on December 11.


The 22-km rally will pass through Kottar, Kuloor, Pejawar, Kuloor, Urwa Store junction, Ashoknagar, Hogaibail and Sultan Battery, and culminate at the Amrita Vidyalayam ground at 9.30 am, said Giridhar Kamath, chief coordinator of the event. The rally aims to make people aware of environmental concerns and ensure safe rides for cyclists in general and motorcyclists in particular. Its slogan will be ’Safe Roads, Save Lives’.


Those interested to take part in the rally can enrol by December 9 at RxLife at Mannagudda, Gurji Centre or Pandeshwar or contact at 2443192 and 9986754875. There is no entry fee but each participant must pay Rs 30 for food coupon, Kamath added.


Dr Gayathri Bhat of RxLife said, ’Till now, 18,000 cyclists have participated in the rally, with 50% among them being repeaters."


The organisers will also hold the Kannadiga World Photography Contest and has invited both amateurs and professionals. The topic of the contest is ’Riding Together’ that should be captured during the rally. Photos can be sent to ’svastirxlife@gmail.com before December 20. The first three winners will receive cash prizes of Rs 3,000, Rs 2,000 and Rs 1,000, respectively. There will be no entry fee.
