Mangaluru, August 12, 2018: Speaking media, PAWA Treasurer Ashwin Shetty said that KASSSIA  had set up a Rubber Testing Laboratory way back in 1995 but later on it could not sustain and manage the equipment. The Polymer Alumni Welfare Association (PAWA) of Karnataka Polytechnic (KPT) has decided to set up a lab comprising the equipment from Karnataka State Small Scale Industries Association (KASSSIA), at the Department of Polymer Technology (DPT), at a cost of Rs 3 lakh.

Donation of equipment:
  Based on the request by the PAWA executive committee members, KASSSIA has agreed to donate all the equipment to the DPT of Karnataka Polytechnic.

PAWA has taken the responsibility of transporting all the lab equipment to KPT. The lab is being set up to provide hands-on experience to the students of the department.

The estimated cost for refurbishing the equipment, installation and commissioning of all equipment will cost Rs 3 lakh. PAWA has decided to organise a one-day seminar DPTCon 2018, at KPT on August 19.

The seminar will be dealing with topics like the latest developments in tyre technology, advantages of pre-dispersed rubber chemicals, application of polymers in aviation technology, polymer composites and others.
