Mangalorre, May 29, 2012 :Mangalore University will completely modify its 30-year-old Manual of Conduct of University Examinations, 1984, also known as the “examination bible” for universities, based on which exams are conducted.

Speaking about it, P. S. Yadapadithaya, the registrar (evaluation) of Mangalore University, said that the university has appointed a committee of six under his chairmanship to prepare a new exam manual.

The existing manual was prepared when the university followed the annual system of exams. Later, the university shifted to the choice-based credit semester system for PG courses and credit-based semester system for undergraduate courses. VC T. C. Shivashankarmurthy said that it is the need of the hour to change the manual as it deals with pre- examination, examination, and post-examination activities. He added that the university wants the manual to be user friendly and free of all ambiguities.

Stating that the committee has already held a few meetings, Mr. Yadapadithaya said that the university expects the work to be finished soon. The completed manual will be submitted before the academic council for approval, after which it will be sent to the Syndicate. He also said that the manual does not require the approval of the governor, who is also the chancellor of the Mangalore University.
