Mangalore Bar Association urges CBI to find missing lawyer

Mangalore Bar Association urges CBI to find missing lawyer

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, March 27: Advocate S P Chengappa, the president of the Mangalore Bar Association, urged for a CBI probe into the case of Advocate Preetham Kumar, who went missing two months ago, since the district police have failed to do so.

During a press conference organized on Friday, Chengappa said that Preetham Kumar left home after receiving a telephone call on Jan 24 at 8:30 p.m. He has still not returned home. The police do not know whether he is alive or not, he informed.

Advocate Preetham Kumar’s parents filed a missing person case at Kavoor police station. Chengappa alleged that the police are trying to cover up the case on the basis of a habeas corpus pending in the High Court. He accused the police of attempting to cheat Preetham’s parents by showing them an anonymous corpse. The police have also failed to solve the murder case of Advocate Noushad Kashimji and the attempt to murder case of Advocate Dinesh Hegde Ulepadi.

Chengappa informed that the Mangalore Bar Association will hold a silent rally urging the government to hand over the case to the CBI on March 30. The rally, which will commence at the premises of the Court, will end at the DC’s office. The association will then hand over a memorandum to the DC.

Ishwari N Kottary, the general secretary of the association, and Elizabeth Neeliyara, the vice president, were also present during the press conference.
