Mangalore, Mar 10: The 5-day Mangaladevi Car Festival commenced on March 5 and concluded on March 9, Tuesday. 

The chariot of the goddess was pulled by devotees on Tuesday night. Various rituals such as Ganahoma, Nava Kalashabhisheka, and Mahapuja were conducted by the priests of Mangaladevi Temple. After the pulling of the chariot, rituals such as Kavata Bandhana and Bhootabali were conducted. 

A wide variety of tableaux, huliveshas, puppet shows, mythological scenes related to the Goddess, Chende troupes, and others added to the splendor of the car festival. The temple was richly decorated with colorful lights. A fireworks show was the highlight of the last day. 

Devotees from Mangalore, Udupi, as well as Kerala visited Mangaladevi Temple, which is among the most ancient in these parts. In fact, Mangalore gets its name from this historic temple.
