Man dies after falling from motorcycle

Dec 24, 2014: A 35-year-old man from Engila in Belthangady died after he fell off the motorcycle near Nellyadi on Tuesday.

The Puttur Traffic Police said Daniel (35) was one of the two persons riding pillion on the motorcycle of his friend.

They were returning after attending an annual day programme of Bethany School in Nelliyadi and were going towards Englia.

A private bus, in its attempt to overtake, hit the motorcycle from the left side. The police said all the three persons fell off the motorcycle and fell on a car that was approaching. Daniel died on his way to the hospital.

The two other injured persons have been moved to a private hospital in Mangaluru, the police said.

Man hit by bus

A pedestrian was injured after he was hit by a bus near Baikampady junction on Tuesday evening. The police said the bus going on route no. 53 hit the pedestrian who was crossing the road.

The driver of the bus reportedly abandoned the vehicle and ran away.

An employee of a cable operator has sexually assaulted a four-year-old girl allegedly at an apartment in Deralakatte on Tuesday.

Konaje police said Mohammed Ashraf (23) had gone to an apartment to attend to a complaint.

Ashraf lured the girl into coming to the terrace of the apartment, where he molested her and left the place.The police said the girl came down to the house and broke down before her mother and brother while narrating the incident. The girl’s father then filed a complaint with the police.

Police Commissioner R. Hithendra said the police arrested Mohammed Ashraf, who is a native of Kasaragod.

The police has registered a case under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.
