Make proper plans to achieve success: Dr. Shantaram Shetty

Mangalore, Mar 13: “Everybody has dreams; but only a few who make proper plans to realize their dreams can achieve success,” said Dr. Shantharam Shetty, the vice chancellor of NITTE University. He was speaking as the chief guest of the 130th college day of St Aloysius College on March 22, Friday. 

Urging students to make proper plans to realize their dreams, Dr. Shetty said that modern students have plenty of opportunities to become great achievers, provided they must make proper plans. He also spoke of the importance of discussing action plans with teachers and parents and getting their support. Speaking about teacher-pupil relationships, he said that this major relationship needs to change with the times. 

Fr Joseph Rodrigues, the rector of St Aloysius College, presided over the programme. Fr. Swebert D’Silva, the principal of St Aloysius College, presented the annual report of 2009 - 10. Dr. Harish Joshi, the convener of the college day celebrations committee, made the welcome speech. Dr. Shantharam Shetty honored the achievers with medals and mementos. The guests felicitated Fr. Swebert D’Silva since the day happened to be his birthday. 

Dr A M Narahari, the registrar of the college; Vice Principal Fr Denzil Lobo; Prof Ronald Pinto; Dr. A Lourdusamy; Fr Francis D Almeida; and Student President Darryl D’Souza were also present. 

An attractive fusion of classical, folk, regional, and Tibetan dance forms marked the beginning of the programme. Several dance presentations were staged after the formal stage programme.
