MRPL activities creates disastrous situation for residents

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, June 16: The intense monsoons that hit DK have washed off the road connecting the MSEZ rehabilitation colony at Kodikere, Kulai. This road, which is in a pathetic condition, is endangering the lives of pedestrians and motorists. The roads from Kulai and Kana, connecting Kodikere are in a miserable condition and the residents have urged the authorities concerned to take note of this and get the roads repaired.

The residents of the low-lying areas of Suratkal are now terrified of artificial flooding caused by the activities of the MSEZ and the III Phase of MRPL. The residents say that the company has filled the low-lying areas it has acquired with mud, endangering the lives of people living outside the acquired zones.

The muddy rainwater is not only rushing inside the houses, but also getting into the wells. The Bala Gram Panchayat Development officers have already inspected the spot. The MRPL team has also visited the area and has promised that it will demolish the wall that is obstructing the flow of water and will take the required steps to purify the well water.

The affected residents have protested against their situation, urging the authorities concerned to do something about it. The protestors stopped project vehicles and prevented the work from being continued. They say that they will not allow the company to continue its work till their problem is solved.
