MP pays surprise visit to horticulture department

Mangalore, June 12 : Shortly after a number of pesticides and fertilizers were discovered dumped into a well in the property of the horticulture department, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel paid a surprise visit to the department and checked the stocks and books of the department.  

The MP arrived unexpectedly in his private car, took the officials to task, and demanded to know why pesticides and fertilizers meant for the farmers were dumped into a well.  

After checking the delivery notes and stocks, the MP found that things were not in order and said that he would speak to the higher authorities about it. Later, he told reporters that he had observed that many things were not in order in the horticulture department and that the stocks and the delivery schedule did not match. He promised that he would investigate the matter.
