Mangaluru, March 25, 2018: The office-bearers of AADEE (Association of Akashvani and Doordarshan Engineering Employees) led by Zonal Secretary Chandrashekhar Shetty along with MP Nalin Kumar Kateel met Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan to apprise him and thank him for the support given by him regarding the demand of several associations of Akashvani & Doordarshan, particularly about the situation arising due to some
decisions taken by Prasar Bharathi.
Speaking to media, Shetty said that the Union Minister had written two letters to I & B Minister Smriti Zubin Irani mentioning the reasons for repealing Prasar Bharati Act 1990 and about the problems of payment issues.
Terming the move by Prasar Bharati of downsizing the National Broadcaster and reducing the security of installations and employees when India is going forward to become a world leader as unfortunate, Shetty said that the National Broadcaster has a role to play in taking the govt policies and schemes to every doorstep irrespective of caste, creed, locality and financial status.
“The majority of keen listeners are in rural and urban areas who are dependent on terrestrial signals of AIR & DD,” he said.
