MLAs witness Lava Kusha kambala held at Miyyaru

Mangalore, January 12: The Lava Kusha Jodukare Bayalu Kambala was jointly organized by the Navodaya Village Vikas Charitable Trust of Mangalore and the Miyyaru Kambala Committee at Miyyaur on Jan 10. MLA H Gopal Bhandary presided over this kambala, which is usually held on a slushy field.

In his address, he said that the sport was stopped for various reasons. Later, people decided to organize it on public grounds and not on private property so that people from all walks of life can enjoy it, he said. 

He also said that, since the sport is being organized on government property, grants from the government can be obtained. Officers who arrive at the venue to watch the Kambala must receive OOD facilities in order to give more publicity to the sport. 

M N Rajendra Kumar, the president of Navodaya Trust; MLA Abhayachandra Jain, and many others were the dignitaries on the dais.
