Mangaluru, Aug 14, 2018 : As a part of CSR activities, the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA)  has decided to construct an anganwadi in Malavoor village as part of the Integrated Child Development Services programme to combat child hunger and malnutrition.

In a programme held at the Malavoor Gram Panchayat, Airport Director V V Rao handed over a cheque to the president of the gram panchayat for the construction of the anganwadi.

He said the Airports Authority of India aims to achieve, consolidate and strengthen good corporate governance including socially and environmentally responsible business practices that balance financial profit with social well-being.

Given the nature of its work, the primary impact is on the environment and communities in the immediate vicinity of the airports. Therefore, AAI has taken this initiative under CSR to create an impact on environmental growth.

The children of BPL families, SC/ST of Malavoor village including minorities and OBC’s can avail the services of the anganwadi once it is completed.

AAI has decided to fund the complete cost of construction of the new anganwadi amounting to Rs 15.54 lakh. The work on the same will be carried out by Panchayat Raj Engineering division.
