Mangalore, Nov. 30: The Mangalore Taluk Office commenced the job of taking computerized photographs and biometric thumb impressions of people holding temporary ration cards in rural areas.
However, the people were enraged when they noticed that there was a severe lack of government staff members to issue the ration cards. Moreover, the staff had only 2 laptops, which they used to issue the ration cards, a process that took a long time.
The aggrieved public was put to a great deal of inconvenience and trouble on the very first day of issuing the ration cards. The queue was long enough to reach the entrance. People were forced to wait for long hours in the hot sun; and no drinking water facility was available.
Subsequently, this led to a quarrel between the people and the government staff, after which drinking water was provided to the people.
