LPG tanker tumbles into river

Mangalore, Dec 9: An LPG tanker, which was moving toward Tamil Nadu from Mangalore, fell into a river running along the Palakkad - Kozhikode national highway on Dec 8, Tuesday. 

Fortunately, nobody sustained any injuries, but there was a traffic block on the highway for several hours. 

As a precaution against possible oil leakage, about 60 families living in the vicinity were shifted to safer areas. 

Officials and firefighters of the Indian Oil Company successfully plugged the leak in the tanker by the noon of Dec 8, Tuesday.
