Mangaluru: A translation of the Constitution of India in Kanara Konkani, published by the Mangalore Diocesan Commission, will be released on April 20. The release will take place after the Easter vigil, Saturday evening, all over the diocese of Mangaluru.

Roy Castelino, former chairman of the Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Academy, told a media conference on April 15, Monday that the translation was done by Prof Stephen Quadros Permude and Gladis Quadros Permude.

“The Catholic Bishops Conference of India wanted every person studying in its institutions – especially the Christians – to make an earnest attempt to learn and understand the Constitution, its provisions and other aspects related to it. The translation was done in Kannada script,” Castelino explained.

The exclusive book release will be organised at the Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cathedral, Bolar. Mangaluru Bishop Dr Peter Paul Saldanha will release the book.
