Mangaluru, Oct 12, 2019 : The transformation taking place in the agriculture sector in India is huge and to allow doubling of farmer’s income by 2022, the ICAR-Central Plantation Crops Research Institute Research Centre, Kidu will organise a ‘Kisan mela’ and Horti fair at the Centre on October 12 and 13.
The fair will share information on the latest farm technologies and also rainwater harvesting and soil water conservation practices. Directorate of Cashewnut and Cocoa Development, Kochi is the co-sponsor for conducting the Horti Fair and ATMA, Mangaluru is the co-sponsor for the Kisan Mela.
MP Nalin Kumar Kateel will be the chief guest while District-in-Charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary will inaugurate the fair. Dr Venkatesh Hubballi, Director, Directorate of Cashewnut and Cocoa Development, Kochi will deliver the key- note address.
Interface programme on soil and water conservation, seminar cum training programmes on cocoa and arecanut cultivation and workshop on honey bee farming will be conducted on the occasion.
On October 13, sunday, at the valedictory function, Vidyaprasanna Teertha Swamiji will deliver the valedictory address and distribute the prizes to winners of various competitions conducted as part of Kisan Mela and Horti Fair. A good volume of participation is foreseen.
