Katariveera Surasundarangi continues having problems

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, May 24, 2012 : The Mangalore North police presented the first information report (FIR) they had filed against the Katariveera Surasundarangi crew to the JMFC Second Court in Mangalore on Wednesday.

The police had filed an FIR on the basis of a complaint lodged by one Sunil of Kankanady.

The complainant had stated that the movie depicts Hindu deities in a derogatory way and has hurt his religious sentiments. Sunil has named actor Upendra, director Suresh Krishna, producer Munirathna, and the owner and the manager of a theatre in his complaint.

Since the Bangalore City Civil and Sessions Court ordered that the film must be screened without any edits, the pro Hindu organizations have decided to take legal steps against the unedited version of the movie.

The Bangalore court issued its order on May 17 after producer Munirathna screened the edited version in Renukamba Preview for the approval of mutt leaders and members of pro-Hindu organizations such as Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal. ]

When the movie, in its unedited form, was first screened in Mangalore and Udupi, pro-Hindu organizations had staged a protest.
