Kali Nali teaching method discussed at meeting

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, March 20: “Nali Kali enables children to learn their lessons quickly and easily because it does not overload them with information,” said former president of Konaje Gram Panchyat Achyutha Gatti during an interactive meeting on the Nali Kali methodology of teaching held at the CODP office on March 20, Saturday under the auspices of Federal Union of Education Resources, BGVS Mangalore, and SDM District Committee.

Strongly recommending the wide implementation of Kali Nali, Gatti said that studies done on the method have revealed that it helps children develop communication skills, critical thinking abilities, and team work. He said that it enables children to learn and interact without the requirement of textbooks. They learn through activities. The teacher is a facilitator in this method, which completely eliminates the requirement of chalk and blackboard. Reports on the programme have been very encouraging, he added.

Sundar Kenaje of Sullia said that this method is being widely imposed on government schools because it is a part of a project funded by the World Bank.

T M Kumar, the educationist, suggested that the teachers must be trained before expanding the programme. Shiva Prakash inaugurated the programme; and Hameed Manjeshwar gave the introductory speech.

Shiva Prakash, Rajan, Chandra Bhan, and other dignitaries were present for the programme.
