KSSIDC to showcase Tadadi port at Global Investors’ Meet

Mangalore, March 9:The Karnataka State Industrial Investment and Development Corporation (KSIIDC) will showcase the Rs. 3,000-crore Tadadi sea port project at the forthcoming Global Investors’ Meet (GIM).

The KSIIDC, which is the nodal agency for the project, has already invited global bids for appointment of consultants for preparation of the feasibility report. Infrastructure Development Corporation Karnataka Ltd. (iDeCK) has already prepared the pre-feasibility report for the public-private partnership (PPP) project.

This emerged at KSIIDC Chairman N. Yogish Bhat’s meet-the-press programme organised by the Mangalore Press Club here on Saturday. The KSIIDC has been named as the nodal agency for implementation of the all-weather, multipurpose port at Tadadi in Uttara Kannada. Mr. Bhat, who is an MLA, said a special purpose vehicle would be created to implement the project.

KSIIDC Managing Director Vandita Sharma said the Tadadi project was the main project of the KSIIDC to be showcased at the GIM based on the already available study reports on the project. Its Executive Director, G.L. Jere, said the feasibility is expected to be ready by October.

Ms. Sharma said the KSIIDC would also showcase six food parks in the State, each involving an investment of Rs. 20 crore, at the GIM. The food parks will come up as hubs of food processing units in Bangalore Rural, Tumkur, Shimoga, Davangere, Bijapur and Belgaum districts. Already, efforts are on to set up such parks at Malur, Jevargi, Bagalkot and Hiriyur.

Golf course

Mr. Bhat said the proposed Rs. 106 crore 18-hole golf course at Tannirbhavi here would get to implementation stage soon.

A Rs. 250-crore aquamarine theme park will also come up at Tannirbhavi, he added. If it becomes a reality, it will have dolphins, penguins, a fish breeding centre, a mangrove lagoon, botanical garden, a gaming zone, restaurants, and many varieties of fish on display.
