KSRTC to launch Manipal – Kasargod Volvo bus service

Mangalore, Apr 7: The Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC), highly encouraged by the people’s enthusiastic response to its Mangalore - Manipal Volvo bus service, has decided to establish its services between Kasargod and Manipal although it had previously decided to run this service between Mangalore and Kasargod. 

The Manipal - Kasargod Volvo bus service will be inaugurated on April 10. Volvo buses will run along the Manipal - Kasargod route every 30 minutes. KSRTC sources have informed that six additional buses will be brought to run between Kasargod and Manipal. 

KSRTC had not expected such an overwhelmingly positive response to its Volvo bus services. Earlier, its mini bus service between Mangalore and Manipal had been coldly received by the citizens. Since a large number of private buses ply along this route, KSRTC believed that it might not be able to compete with private bus operators. However, the rising temperature of the city has made the air-conditioned Volvo buses very popular indeed. 

Krishna J Palemar, the district-in-charge minister, said that he will participate in the inauguration ceremony of the Volvo bus services between Kasargod and Manipal on April 10. The KSRTC has not yet made an official statement regarding the inaugural of its Manipal - Kasargod services.
