KIADB takes steps to acquire Patrao’s remaining land

Mangalore, June 18: Though various organizations have started hungry strike in front of DC office, Mangalore on June, Thursday 17 demanding justice for Gregory Patrao, whose land had been acquired by the KIADB, Karnataka Industrial Development Board has planned to acquire remaining 7.28 acres of land. Out of 14.27 acres of land located in kalavaru village, KIADB has acquired 6.99 acres of land owned by Gregory Patrao, earlier.


KIADB had deposited Rs 1.56 crore as compensation for the land acquired, in the civil court here, in December 2009.  High Court had dismissed the case filed by Patrao on March 19, 2010 and that the family refused to accept the offer for alternative arrangement for relocating them at Permude village. KIADB Said that efforts to convince the family to vacate the place did not yield any positive results and that the officials had no other option but to execute the court orders.


Out of 14 acres proposed to be acquired, the court has decided only about 6.9 acres of land and that the hearing in respect of the balance land is in the final stages. KIAD has also allowed Gregory Patrao to harvest the crop from his land. After harvesting the crop from his land, KIADB will acquire his land said a highly reliable sources from KIADB.
