Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, Feb 27: On Feb 26, the District Crime Intelligence Bureau (DCIB) police arrested 2 people on Nellikai Road on grounds of supplying fake visas and confiscated 128 CVs, receipt books, and fake police clearance certificates.

The arrested are Canute D’Souza (60) of Jayashree Gate, Bikarnakatte, and Francis Rebello of Prashanth Bagh, Alape, Padil. They have been taken to the Pandeshwar Police Station for further investigation.

It came to the notice of the Indian Embassy that JCG Associates, run by the arrested, had placed an advertisement in a Malayalam newspaper on Jan 20 about vacancies for BSc nurses, general nurses, X-ray technicians, ward boys, ambulance drivers, security guards, and cleaners at the American Mission Hospital in Bahrain. The Indian Embassy at Bahrain made an enquiry and learned that the hospital knew nothing about the advertisement. The hospital claimed that it had never hired the services of JCG Associates.

The embassy wrote to the Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs, New Delhi, on Feb 1, to take action against JCG Associates. The Ministry sent a fax to SP A S Rao, Dakshina Kannada, on Feb 19. The DCIB team acted on the fax and organized a raid on JCG Associates on Friday night. They learned that JCG Associates had collected an amount of Rs 15,000 each from 128 candidates interviewed for the job.
