Introduction of KSRTC Volvo buses will be delayed: Palemar

Mangalore, Ma 17: The introduction of KSRTC Volvo buses along the Mangalore - Manipal route will be delayed, said J Krishna Palemar, district-in-charge minister of Dakshina Kannada. 

Mr. Palemar informed journalists on Tuesday that R Ashok, the transport minister, will have to inaugurate the bus service; however, he will be available only after the conclusion of the legislature session. 

A senior KSRTC official said that KSRTC will initially ply 5 buses along the said route. He said that all the formalities have been done and that all the facilities are ready, adding that KSRTC is only waiting for the formal inauguration. He also said that KSRTC will introduce yet another Volvo bus later. 

Palemar inspected the concretization work along Kadri and Mallikatte, in the company of K N Vijayaprakash, the commissioner of Mangalore City Corporation (MCC), and V Ponnuraj, the deputy commissioner. He told the contractors and engineers that the compressing and curing of concrete at certain points was not proper. He wanted to know whether the engineers were supervising the work. Assistant Executive Engineer Ganeshan assured the minister that the defective parts will be re-laid. 

The minister informed journalists that he would make all efforts to get the concretization work in the city centre completed before June, adding that he could not fix any deadline for the road work that is in progress in other parts of Mangalore.
