Mangalore, June 19: The Radio Listeners’ Association of Mangalore celebrated its decennial at SDM College on June 18, Friday. RJ of Radio Mirchi Divya Karanth was the chief guest of the event. She said that she was very happy to be an RJ, which enables her to interact with people. She also thanked her best friend Rekha, who was present for the programme, for sharing her joys and sorrows ever since childhood. 

M. V. C. S. Karanth, the general manager of Karnataka Bank, who presided over the programme, said that people hardly have time for entertainment in their busy lives; but even busy people can listen to the radio and enjoy it. Therefore, RJs such as Divya play an important role in the lives of radio listeners. 

A disabled boy and Madhuri Shriram, a member of the Radio Listener’s Association, received surprise gifts during the programme. Association President U. Ram Rao and Secretary Savithri Rao were also present for the programme. A large number of people who enjoy listening to the radio belong to this group, which is known for its social service activities.
