Puttur, Dec 29: Dr. V S Acharya, the home minister, inaugurated brand new buildings for Puttur and Kadaba police stations. He also laid the foundation stone of a new building for Vittla police station.

After inaugurating the new Puttur police station building, the home minister said that the government has released funds for a new traffic police station in Puttur, a town that is on its way to becoming one of the largest towns in DK. The home minister assured that the new police station will be ready in 2010. It will be located in the old police station building of Puttur.

The home minister also said that the government will take the required steps to eliminate illegal activities, including the illegal trafficking of cattle, in certain areas of DK and Kasargod districts.

After inaugurating the new Kadaba police station building, he revealed the government’s plan to establish 56 brand new police stations all over Karnataka. The implementation of this plan was delayed owing to the North Karnataka floods. Now, the government has decided to establish 25 of these police stations. He also said that the government will recruit the required number of emergency services personnel, including Home Guards.
