October 11 2019: ’Panchamada Inchara Viveka Smruthi – 2019’, a day-long Hindustani classical concert will be organised by Ramakrishna Mutt and Chiranthana Charitable Trust at Swami Vivekananda Sabhabhavana, Ramakrishna Mutt, from 7 am to 7 pm on October 13, Sunday.

Trust President Shankar Junior told media at Patrika Bhavan that the Trust, which runs an old age home for senior citizens in Surathkal, has been organising Hindustani classical concerts since 2012. This time, there is a variety in the form of ‘bansuri’, ‘vachanas’ and bhajan singing, he added.

Managing Trustee Bharavi Deraje said that the concert includes eight sessions on different styles of gharana.

Much to the delight of music connoisseurs Dr Mithun Chakravarty from Ujire, who is a disciple of Pt Rajshekar Mansur, son of Pt Mallikarjun Mansur, Priya Purushothaman from Mumbai, who is a disciple of Vidushi Aditi Upadhya, Mohasin Khan Dharwad, who is a disciple of Ustad Hameed Khan, Debopriya and Suchismita Chatterjee, who are disciples of Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia, will be performing at the programme.

Swami Jitakamananda of Ramakrishna Mutt will inaugurate the classical music fest at 7 am, Deraje added.
