High court orders varsity to issue degree certificates

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, June 20: The High Court of Karnataka has issued an order directing the Mangalore University to issue degree certificates to the students of the postgraduate courses of 2007 - 08 of St. Aloysius College (autonomous) Mangalore. The court feels that the issues between the university and the college should not have an adverse effect on the life of the students.

According to a media release, “St. Aloysius College has been re-accredited by NAAC with the highest “A” Grade. Moreover, the UGC has awarded the college the status of “College with Potential for Excellence” under the 11th Five Year Plan. It is not proper to say that the college does not have the required facilities or that the college is not cooperating with the university. After becoming autonomous, the college has completely restructured the degree courses in tune with the aspirations of the society and industry. Several postgraduate programmes have been started for the benefit of the students. Huge investment has been made for upgrading the facilities and also for providing the needed infrastructure. St. Aloysius has shaped the future of generations of students. At present more than 5000 students are pursuing their higher education in the institution.”
