High Court gets four additional judges




Bangalore March 13: The Karnataka High Court has got four more additional judges with Justices Benedict Victor Pinto, Bijoor Manohar, K Govindarajulu and H S Kempanna swearing in as judges on Friday.


 
With these new appointments, the total strength of the High Court judges has now gone up to 41. The new judges were sworn in by Chief Justice P D Dinakaran before a fully-packed audience in the Court Hall -1 at the High Court.


Among the four new judges, Justice Pinto and Justice Manohar have been members of the bar, while Justice Govindarajulu and Justice Kempanna have been District and Session Judges.


Fifty-four year-old Justice Manohar had been a government counsel and had dealt mostly on education matters. He began his career in 1983. Justice Pinto, who began his practice in 1977 in Mangalore had shifted to Bangalore in 1987. With an expertise in criminal matters, Justice Pinto was appointed Additional State Public Prosecutor in 1998.


Justice K Govindarajulu, who had practised mostly in Bellary district had been a district judge since 1993, while Justice Kempanna, who hails from Tumkur had been appointed as District and Sessions Judge on 3 February, 1993.
