Guest lecturers threaten indefinite stir from October 6

Mangalore, Sep 30, 2014:  Addressing media in Mangalore, Association President Madhava Kojappe said that the guest lecturers serving in the government first grade colleges have not received their salary from July’ 14.  The government should pay Rs 25,000 as monthly salary to the guest lecturers. The salary should be paid in the first week of every month. They should be given salary for 12 months, including during holidays.

The Association of DK, Udupi and Kodagu district Guest Lecturers has urged the government to fulfill their demands and have threatened to stage an indefinite strike from October 6, if the State government did not fulfil their demands.

The association members said that the government should continue services of guest teachers working since 2013-14 for the next academic year also. The female guest lecturers should be given maternity leave.  The association had submitted a memorandum to the Higher Education Minister R V Deshpande listing out the demands. However, the government has not taken any action to fulfil the demands, he said.
