Government to provide Interceptors to each district node: home minister

Mangalore Today News Network

March 22: Home Minister Dr. V S Acharya launched an Interceptor at Udupi and said that, since Interceptors have played a significant role in vigilance, tracking, and law enforcement, all district nodes in Karnataka will be provided an Interceptor in just one year.

The home minister interacted with journalists and said that a fund of Rs 40 crore has been allotted for the upgrading of the traffic system.

An Interceptor comprises sophisticated navigation and probing devices that can detect two-wheeler riders riding without helmets, motor drivers using mobile phones while driving, breath alcohol, and much more. Besides, the remote offence printing technology allows the law enforcement department to provide offenders with a photograph of the offence done as proof. These photographs can be taken from a distance of 300mts.

The home minister said that traffic signal boards will be placed at seven different places in the district. Since the volume of traffic plying along the roads of the district is ever on the rise, Dr Acharya urged vehicle users to obey the traffic rules and avoid accidents.
