Gilivindu meet on Sept 25 Sunday at MU

Mangaluru, Sep 24, 2016: Addressing media, Mangalore University S V Parameshwara Bhat Kannada Study Centre Chairman Prof B Shivram Shetty said that the second meet of ’Gilivindu’, the association of Mangalore University Kannada department students, PhD holders, M Phil holders, lecturers, and office staff established in 1968, will be held at Mangala Auditorium in Mangalagangotri on September 25 Sunday at 10 am.

The programme will be inaugurated by University Vice Chancellor K Byrappa. Kannada University former VC B A Vivek Rai will preside over the programme and the students from the first batch of 1968 will share their thoughts at a session named ’Hinnota - Nudinenapu’, he added.  Prof Shetty said ’Gilivindu’ has an objective to recollect the 45-year-long history of Kannada Department of the university. In the afternoon, the discussion on future projects and the presentation of bylaw will be held. The office-bearers of the Gilivindu will be elected on the occasion. The association came into existence on September 20 last year and the first meet was held in Mangalagangotri, in which more than 500 senior students took part. A 30-member ad hoc committee was also formed, he explained. He requested that the senior students of the department to take part in the meet.

Senior students Chandrakala Nandavara, Vasudeva Ucchil, Dr Nagappa Gowda and others were present at the press meet.
