Sullia, Jan 28: Vijayanand Sullia (42), son of Subbaiah Naik, the first MLA of Sullia, was arrested, after he allegedly threatened Pramod Kumar, the sub inspector of Bajpe Police Station on Jan 27, Wednesday.

The MLA’s son wanted the SI to issue a no-objection certificate to establish an underground petroleum storage unit for Indian Strategic Petroleum Reserves Ltd (ISPRL) as part of MSEZ in Permude. He arrived at the Bajpe  Police Station with his supporters and allegedly threatened the SI by saying that he would “teach him a lesson if he does not issue a no-objection letter.”

Vijayanand was arrested on grounds of hindering a government employee from performing his duties. Back in 1985, a case was registered against Vijayanand for threatening Kamble, the sub inspector of Sullia Police Station. He was even produced in court in this regard.

However, Vijayanand has gotten admitted into Wenlock Hospital saying that he is not feeling well.
