Mangaluru, Sep 28, 2019: During an event held at Patrika Bhavana, Mangaluru MLA U T Khader inaugurated the campaign by signing on the memorandum requesting the concerned department to take up protective measures in power lines.   Mayuravarma Samskritika Pratishthana has taken up a signature campaign to stress the need for the Mescom to provide safety measures for the public, to avoid electrocutions. Speaking on the occasion, MLA Khader said, “We regularly see many cases of electrical hazards due to which people, animals, and birds lose their lives and limbs due to electrocution, owing to the lack of protective measures. Many lives could be saved if protective and safety measures are ensured.”

Mayuravarma Samskritika Pratishthana Vice President Rajesh Gowda urged the department to insulate the live electrical wires in all places, to prevent electrocution. Many cases in recent times were narrated as examples.


Also, a lorry carrying people for a wedding ceremony came in contact with a live wire, killing 15 people.

Recently on August 18, five students died while unhoisting the Indian flag in a school in Koppal.

Many wild animals have died due to badly maintained electrical wires in the forest area.

Signatures  :   Signatures from 5,000 people will be collected on the  memorandum and will be submitted to the department, he said.
