ESIC dispensary now in Deralakatte

Mangaluru, June 12, 2019: An Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) dispensary was inaugurated in Deralakatte on June 10, Monday.

Yenepoya (Deemed to be) University Vice Chancellor Dr M Vijaykumar inaugurated the dispensary located on the ground floor, Zulekha Bhavan, Opposite Yenepoya University, Nityananda Nagar, Deralakatte.

The dispensary will be managed by the Yenepoya (Deemed to be) University and will cater to about 7,000 employees covered under the ESI scheme. The scheme will also cover the employees’ family members, residing in and around Deralakatte, Ullal, Thokkottu and Mudipu.

The dispensary will be one of the biggest being managed by major employees. It will be equipped with a laboratory to conduct basic diagnostic tests for patients. This is the fourth such dispensary opened by ESIC, after Moodbidri, Sullia and Ujire, in a time span of four months. All the dispensaries have been established under the scheme called ‘ESIC Modified Employer’s Utilisation Dispensary (MEUD)’.

The dispensary, besides providing medical treatment and dispensing drugs and medicines, will also issue certificates to the employees covered under scheme so as to enable them to avail of cash benefits from the branch offices of ESIC at times like sickness, disablement and maternity, said S Sivaramakrishnan, director in-charge of ESIC.

He added that the ESIC has been striving to improve the quality of service and deliver services to the door steps of the stakeholders.

The Deralakatte dispensary will be open from 9 am to 1.30 pm and from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm on all days except Sundays and government holidays.
