Commission to submit report on alleged LLB exam result manipulation

Mangalore, Mar 27: Mangalore University’s one-man committee, which was investigating the alleged manipulation of the results of October - November 2008 LLB examinations, has submitted its report, said T C Shivashankara Murthy, the vice chancellor of the university. 

Pro Murthy told the reporters of Hindu that the report will be tabled before the next meeting of the Syndicate and a course of action will be decided upon. He assured that the university will not hush up the issue because of its serious nature. However, he said that he would consult the university advocates before taking any action. 

University sources have also revealed that the  November 2008 BBM exam results were also tampered with. About 80 cases of manipulation were brought to light during a random check conducted on the BBM results immediately after the manipulation of LLB exam results was brought to light. The results were manipulated while transferring marks from the A form to the university ledger. The evaluator enters the roll numbers and the marks into the A form, which the university later sends to tabulators. 

University sources have revealed that a Karnataka Administrative Services (KAS) officer was heading the examination section as the Registrar (Evaluation) when the LLB and BBM examination results were tabulated. The government transferred the official after the LLB exam results were brought to light. 

Regarding the manipulation of LLB exam results, the university sources revealed that even students who have not appeared for the examinations were given pass marks.
