College of Fisheries will organise Fishco Festival

Mangalore, Jan 21: The 3-day Fishco Festival, organized by the College of Fisheries, will be inaugurated in the college auditorium on Jan 22, Friday, at 10 a.m. 

Dr. Shankar, the dean in-charge of the College of Fisheries, spoke to press people during a press meet held at the Press Club. He said that District-in-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar will inaugurate the event. Naadoja Sara Abubakkar, the noted writer, will be the chief guest. Gopual Hosur, the IGP of western range, and Monappa Karkera, the member of the Board of Management, KVAFSU, Bidar will be the guests of honour. 

Prof Suresh S Honnappagol, the vice chancellor of Karnataka Veterinary, Animal, and Fisheries Sciences University, Bidar, will preside over the programme. The Fishco Festival will include a DK and Udupi district-level inter-collegiate literary, cultural, and fine arts competitions, he said. 

The valedictory ceremony of Fishco Festival will be held on Jan 24, during which Dr. A E Ekanath, the director of CIFA in Bhuvaneshwar, Orissa, will give a valedictory address. H T Mohan Kumar, the member of the Board of Management, KVAFSU, Bidar; Vijay Kumar, the deputy conservator of forests; P G Ramesh, the commissioner of MUDA; and Laxmi Kumaran, the deputy general manager of MRPL, will be the chief guests. Y Basavaraju, the dean of the College of Fisheries will preside over the programme. 

Dr. K S Ramesh, the staff advisor, and Nithin K P, the president of the Student Committee, were present during the press conference.
