Udupi, Apr 20, 2018: Though there is plenty of opportunity for the submission of nomination papers, not one candidate has yet come forth to submit his nomination papers in Udupi. The candidates search for an auspicious day to submit nomination papers has drastically reduced the pace of nomination papers submission.

Wednesday was a government holiday,  April 19-20 are good days, April 21, 23 are normal days. It is expected that most of the candidates will submit their nomination papers on April 21st. April 22 is Sunday and April 24th is the last day for nomination paper submission. Amidst this, a few candidates will submit their nomination papers on April 19th, 20th and again on April 23rd during the public conference.

Places to submit nomination papers ;  The nomination papers need to be submitted at ‘Strishakti Bhavana’ near Byndoor taluk office, Assistant Commissioner’s office at mini vidhana soudha in Kundapura, Z.P. office in Bannaje village for Udupi and Kaup and room no.5 at Karkala taluk office.


17 women polling booths  ;  Altogether, 17 polling booths have been created for the district. Since the colour ‘Pink’ is the sign of woman empowerment, the polling booths are called pink polling booths. The pink polling booths have been distributed throughout the district including 10 in Udupi, two each in Kundapura, Karkala, Kaup and one in Byndoor. The polling booth for disabled citizens in Kundapura taluk will be set up at Beluru senior primary school. Hilly polling booth has been set up at Ragihitli senior primary school, informed the district commissioner.
