CPI (M) protests against BJP-led state government

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, May 15, 2012: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) organized a protest against the BJP-led state government and its scams and scandals in front of the DC’s office. They demanded that CM D. V. Sadananda Gowda and his cabinet ministers must immediately resign.

The protestors also demanded that the CM must order a thorough investigation of mining illegalities as the Supreme Court has ordered a CBI probe against B. S. Yeddyurappa, the former chief minister of Karnataka.

Delivering the protest address, B. Madhava, DK district secretary of the CPI (M), said that the BJP members, including several ministers and B. S. Yeddyurappa, the former chief minister, are guilty of corrupt and illegal activities. He said that the CPI (M) wants all BJP ministers facing charges of corruption and illegal activities to resign immediately.

Criticizing the BJP for not expelling B. S. Yeddyurappa, the former chief minister, and R. Ashok from the party in spite of their involvement in illegal activities, he said that this shows that the BJP lacks accountability.

Mr. Madhava also said that development work in the state has stopped because the CM holds 20 portfolios. Besides, the state government has not even appointed the Lokayukta and the Upa Lokayukta, further protecting its corrupt ministers from inquiries.
