Mangaluru: Communist Party of India (Marxist) workers are set to organise State-level campaign against anti-farmer and labour policies of the Central and State governments throughout the month of  July 2015.  The party is to conduct village and regional level protests from August 1 to 14. On the final day, which is on August 14, the protest would start at 10 am and continue till midnight in front of every district DC office.

Briefing media July 3, CPI (M) State Committee Secretary G V Srirama Reddy said Narendra Modi government has conducted 500 public conferences and 200 press meets for publicity of its achievements.

The government has designed various programmes in the name of poor just to help corporate companies. Acts are being implemented through ordinance without discussion. With Land Acquisition Bill 2015, the government is planning to shut the mouth of farmers.  Labour laws are being amended to destroy the unity of labour unions, he said.

The State government is using free rice scheme for publicity. The negligent attitude of the government towards farming community has resulted in the suicide of farmers. The government is not serious about the problems of labourers. The government has completely neglected the development of agriculture, industry, irrigation and power sectors which play the chief role in  overall development.

The government should implement the Somanathan report for the welfare of sugarcane farmers.  District Secretary Vasanth Achary and State Secretarial Board Member J Balakrishna Shetty were present.
