CET counselling delayed this year too

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, June 11: The brightest students do no appear to be interested in pursuing a medical career. The first and second CET toppers in the medical category said that they wanted to sign up for an engineering course.

The CET counselling of this year was also delayed. The seat selection was scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m., but it began only at 10:30 a.m. at all the five centres. A senior KEA officer said that the inauguration ceremony was delayed at four centres. Explaining the situation further, he said that the seat selection process was slow in Shimoga and Gulbarga. The process concluded only at 11 p.m. because the politicians who were invited to inaugurate the counselling in Mangalore, Gulbarga, and Shimoga were late, which upset the entire schedule.

Parents and students, who were at the receiving end, alleged that the CET had not learned anything from its mistakes. The counselling for the general category seats for the medical stream was completed till the 954th CET rank on the first day.

According to a KEA release, Higher Education Minister Aravind Limbavalli will honor the CET toppers on Friday. Ramachandra Gowda, the medical education minister, will be the chief guest.
