Boy electrocuted. Mob attacks Mescom officer in Ullal. 23 arrested.

Mangalore, Mar 10: A nineteen year old boy electrocuted engaged in construction work in his compound on Wednesday, March 10. The victim identified as Mohamed Shareef, son of Abdul Lateef, was electrocuted getting contact with a live power cable protruding out of the control panel attached to the electric pole. He succumbed to death instantly.

 

 

Angry mob gathered hearing the news, stormed the Ullal municipality office and taken the Mescom officer in charge to task for negligence and irresponsibility in safekeeping power lines. The irked mob assaulted the officer and destroyed office furniture and fixtures.
Open switch boards and panels of power supply in the district have been death traps for long time. The Mescom authorities have not bothered to cover the boxes in spite of many accidents and deaths.
The Ullal Police sort to minor lathi charge to disperse angry mob. 23 persons were taken to custody for assault and attack on the office. Situation in Ullal is tense but under control.
