Mangalore, April 14: The Billava Sangha of Moodbidri emerged as the overall champions of “Bhandavya 2010,” a state-level sports meet held at Rajeev Gandhi Stadium at Bastipadpu on April 13, Tuesday. The runners-up were the Haleyangadi Yuvavahini team.

The women’s team of Kaup Yuvavahini won the throwball trophy, while the runners-up were the Yuvavahini team of Moodubidri. Udupi Yuvavahini bagged that first place in men’s tug-of-war; and Udyavar Billava Mahajan Sangh were the runners up. Udupi Yuvavahini won the first place in women’s tug of war, and the runners-up were Hejamady Billava Sangh.  

Shubhalaxmi Moodubidri and Bhavya Kaup won the first and the second places in the women’s shot-put competition, respectively.  

The event was jointly organized by Yuvavahini Central Committee of Mangalore and Hejamady Yuvavahini Unit for the members of the Billava Sangha and Yuvavahini. Sudharshan H, the president of the District Kabaddi and Body Builders Association, inaugurated the event.  

Jayaram Karandoor, the president of the Yuvavahini Central Committee of Mangalore; Sudhir, the president of the Padubidri Billava Sangh; and Mahabala Poojary Kadandodi, the entrepreneur, were present during the valedictory ceremony of the sports meet.
