Severely criticizing the Congress, former President of BJP (district unit) Monappa Bhandary said that the Congress has betrayed the citizens’ trust by misusing funds collected for the victims of a natural disaster. Stating that the Congress is corrupt, he accused the party of using the funds for their own selfish motives and to renovate their offices.

President of BJP (Mangalore) Shreekara Prabhu said that the BJP had also collected funds for the welfare of the flood victims and had utilized it in constructing more than 500 houses for the victims, adding that the construction is still in progress.

The protestors displayed T-shirts, which they plan to send to R. V. Deshpande, the state president of KPCC, via courier in order to protest against the alleged injustice. The protestors even burned an effigy of Deshpande. However, a shirt of one of the protestors caught flames and he had to take treatment for minor injuries.
