All set for SSLC examination

Udupi, April 1: All preparations have been made in the district for the SSLC examination that starts on Thursday.


Deputy Director of Public Instruction B.V. Mahidas told The Hindu on Wednesday that there were 57 SSLC examination centres in the district and 17,186 candidates would appear for the exam. Of these, 15,727 are first-time candidates, 904 are private candidates and 555 are repeaters. There are 17 centres in Udupi block, 13 in Brahmavar, eight in Byndoor, nine in Kundapur and 10 in Karkala.


Squads
To prevent any malpractice, three squads have been formed at the district level and 14 squads will operate in Udupi, Kundapur and Karkala taluks.


There will also be a squad at every centre.


Prohibitory orders
Prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the Criminal Procedure Code will be clamped 200 m around the centres from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. or till all the examination-related procedures are completed from April 1 to 9.


Private candidates


The three centres for private candidates are Board High School, St. Cecily’s High School and Government Girls’ Pre-University College.

Students will be given an additional 15 minutes to read the questions papers, Dr. Mahidas said.
