Akshaya Awards to be conferred on April 16




Mangalore, April 15: The Akshaya National Awards will be conferred on the recipients at an awards ceremony jointly hosted by Akshaya Pustaka Nidhi and Kerala Samajam at the Town Hall on April 16. 


K Shankaranarayan, the governor of Maharashtra, will confer the awards on seven members, including the Mangalore Chapter of Kerala Samajan, said P Narayanan, the general secretary of the Samajan, during a press conference held in Mangalore on Monday. 


The other recipients of the awards are M K Ramachandra of Trissur, Johny Lukose of Manorama News, Dr D Ramanathan of Trissur, P Venugopal of Kolkata, V K Mohammed of Bhilai, and A P R Nair of Jamshedpur. 


Payipra Radhakrishnan, the president of Akshaya Pustaka Nidhi, will preside over the programme and deliver the M P Manmadhan memorial lecture. 


Rajani Dugganna, the mayor of Mangalore, will inaugurate the "Akshaya Jyothi" scheme. Under this scheme, the Kerala Samajan will supply book shelves to different organizations. 


An orchestra by Asianet star singers will be held later, said Narayanan. 


A P Balagopalan, M Narayanan, and K V Kunhikrishnan, the office bearers of the Kerala Samajan, were also present.
