AIMIT is already a leading business school: Fr Denzil Lobo

Mangalore, Mar 13: “AIMIT is already a leading business school,” said Fr. Denzil Lobo of AIMIT. He was speaking on the occasion of Kaizen 2010, a 1-day orientation programme for chosen batches of BBM and BCom students of St Aloysius College, Mangalore, on March 11. The purpose of Kaizen 2010 was to introduce the new Beeri Campus to the undergraduate students of St Aloysius College. BBC (Beeri Beautification Committee) organized this programme under the leadership of Ramya, Ashish, and other members.  

Fr Denzil Lobo SJ proudly stated that the college has developed rapidly over the last few years, building a world class campus in just 3 years. He declared that AIMIT aims to become one of the top 10 Business Schools in India within the following 5 years. AIMIT has already attracted good companies, said Fr. Lobo, citing the example of NOMURA of Mumbai, which chose 8 students from a batch of 30 finance students for positions with fat salaries. He also said that the Bank of Maharashta, HDFC, and South India Bank had already visited AIMIT for campus recruitments and that many students have been selected. 

Speaking about the new campus culture, within which students are encouraged to use the library, have group discussions, and prepare presentations, Fr. Denzil said that several facilities, such as the library, is open till 11 p.m. 

Prof Narahari, the registrar of St Aloysius College, was the chief guest of Kaizen 2010. Lauding the excellent facilities at the Beeri campus, he urged the students to use these facilities to grow as entrepreneurs. 

Dr. Shridhar S, the dean, gave an introduction to the MBA programme at AIMIT and said that the syllabus, which is designed under the autonomous scheme, is very competitive. He said that choice-based credit systems will be introduced from the following academic year with Banking and International Business as options. 

The valedictory programme was organized at 5 p.m. Fr Jeevan Prabhu, the dean, was the chief guest. Dr. Sridhar S, the dean of MBA, was also present.
