AHINDA criticizes Women’s Reservation Bill

AHINDA criticizes Women’s Reservation Bill

Mangalore Today News Network

Mangalore, March 12: AHINDA, an organization of backward castes, Dalits, and minorities, has protested the current form of the Women’s Reservation Bill.

AHINDA leaders made a statement Thursday condemning the passing of the Bill in the Rajya Sabha without providing internal reservation for women from the backward communities. The statement bears the signatures of AHINDA President Vasudev Boloor, Working President Lolaksha; and General Secretary B. A. M. Haneef.

The leaders said that women from Scheduled Tribes, Scheduled Castes, Backward Classes, and religious minorities must get reservation in the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary on the basis of their population.

They criticized that the current form of the Bill will benefit only “convent-educated” women and not the downtrodden who are suffering the adverse effects of communalism and globalization, which makes the bill a legal instrument to deprive the women of the exploited communities of their rights.

Only the upper classes consider the bill to be “historic,” they alleged, adding that the bill was passed via sheer brute force by political parties. The bill shows the upper class political parties in their true colors, they claimed.

AHINDA leaders also criticized Sonia Gandhi, M Veerappa Moily, and the CPI (M) for the role played by them in the passing of this bill.
