9 injured when bus collides with poultry van

Mangalore, March 9: Nine persons were injured when a private bus collided with a poultry van transporting chickens on NH17 near Kaup on the evening of March 7, Sunday, near Vidyaniketan. The bus was going to Udupi and the poultry van was going to Mangalore. 

The injured are Ganesh (24) of Kaup, who was driving the poultry van; Sharanappa (23), and Madesh (20) from Koppal, who were travelling in the poultry van; and Renuka Bagalkot (23), Mohammed Siraj (23) of Udupi, Renuka Kombagudde (45), Sunita Kukkikatte (32), her son Pranesh (2), and Sujatha (64), who were travelling on the bus. 

Many other people sustained minor injuries and received first aid in the local hospital. A case has been registered at the Kaup police station.
