8-day celebrations commence at Shri Devi Annapoorneshwari Temple

Moodbidri, Mar 29: Jagadguru Shri Shri Bharathi Teertha Mahaswamiji of Dakshinamnaya, Shri Shringeri Mutt, inaugurated 61-ft tall Swagatha Gopuram at the Shri Devi Annapoorneshwari Temple at Hosanadu, Kodyadka, near Moodubidri. 

The inauguration ceremony commenced at 11 a.m.; Shri Shri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamiji and the other dignitaries were welcomed in a traditional manner. This was followed by a pooja and other rituals at the Shri Devi Annapoorneshwari Temple. 

Shri Jayaram Heggade warmly welcomed the dignitaries on the dais as well as the devotees who had visited the Kshetra. 

Shri Shri Bharathi Teertha Mahaswamiji honored Udupi MP Sadananda Gowda, District-in-charge Minister Krishna J Palemar, Moodubidri MLA Mr. K Abhaya Chandra Jain, Mangalore MP Mr. Nalin Kumar Kateel, Mr. B Nagaraj Shetty, Shri Ananthapadmanabha Asranna, Mr. Surendra Kumar, Mr. K P Jagadish Adhikari, and Mr. Dakshinamoorthi with shawls and mementos. The Mahaswamiji also honored Shri Jayaram Heggade and Shrimati Jaya Heggade. Shri Dakshinamoorthi, the Vastu specialist, was honored for his art contributions to the temple. 

The inauguration ceremony will be followed by 8 days of religious and cultural festivities such as Ashtabandha Brahmakalashabisheka, Ashtapavitra Nagamandala, classical music concerts, bhajana, satsangas, and classical dance recitals. 

Ms Aishwarya Heggade, the daughter of Shri Jayaram Heggade, proposed the vote of thanks at the end of the inauguration ceremony.

Shri Kodyadka Jayarama Heggade established the Shri Devi Annapoorneshwari Temple. The Kshetra is known for its annadaanam. Prasadam is served to the devotees day and night.

The Heggade family is renowned for its religious service and philanthropy. 

In May 2008, the 61-ft tall Sanjeevin Hanumantha statue was consecrated. Positioned near the temple’s main gate, this statue can be seen from a distance of several miles. Ever since, the temple has attracted innumerable devotees.
